About Epiphone Guitar:
The Epiphone Guitar has a very interesting history! In the beginning Anastasios Stathopoulos of Greece, built a first musical instrument in 1873. Anastasios Stathopoulos had a son and named him “Epi.” In 1924 his son, Epi registered the brand name “Epiphone.”
In 1928, this company sold it’s first guitars. These were made of carved tops and spruce and maple tonewoods. By 1931, Epiphone offered 12 models of f-hole archtop guitars including the top models of the DeLuxe, Broadway and Triumph. These guitars became the most familiar guitar model names for the next 40 years.
In 1957, CMI — Chicago Musical Instrument Co.bought Epiphone. They also owned Gibson. At the time of the purchase, CMI received all of Epiphone’s inventory of stock and parts. Gibson combined the Epiphone parts with Gibson parts from 1958 through 1961. These products were referred to as “Gibson / Epiphone”
The Modern Epiphone Guitar:
The brand continues as a respected guitar. During the early 1990’s this guitar brand really began selling well.
